International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. In Uganda, Faith for Family Health Initiative (3FHi) has stepped into the realities of girls and women to document their life experiences, created spaces for dialogues where these documented experiences have been aired, initiated policy dialogue to raise sectoral awareness of gender equity, and increase conversation and visibility of Generation Equality Forum: “As we Commemorate #InternationalWomenDay, we trust that one of the feasible means to counter the worlds massive challenge is to invest in and involve women.” In Uganda, financing for Women Children Adolescent Health (WCA) health through Global Financing Facility/Result Based Financing (GFF/RBF) has increased three to four folds. This has facilitated intensified outreaches, facilitation for Village Health Teams (VHTs) to mobilize for communities and follow up of lost cases for immunization, antenatal and postnatal, among others. We are supporting faith leaders to monitor efficiency in the utilization of GFF/ RBF funds, advocate the government to deliver on its commitments for WCA health as well monitor delivery of WCA health services by use of social accountability tools. 3FHi is supporting the district government of Ntoroko to develop District Reproductive Maternal New Born Child Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Investment Framework to guide the government in planning and resource allocation for WCA health. With focus on UNs theme for 2022: Gender Equality for a sustainable tomorrow: we at Faith for Family Health initiative-(3FHi) will continue to Walk #InHERFOOTSTEPS and #BreaktheBias by speaking out against gender-based violence and supporting girls and women empowerments through our programmes and surveys. Through our frontline workers, continue to document these unique experiences as we celebrate girls and women taking the lead towards a sustainable tomorrow.
