3FHi Officially Launches the Uzazi Salama Project in Ntoroko District
On 20th November 2025, Faith for Family Health Initiative (3FHi) proudly launched the Uzazi Salama Project (August 2025 – August 2028) at a high-level District Entry Meeting held at Ntoroko District Headquarters. The project specifically targets the flood-affected Kanara Sub-county and Town Council to deliver safer motherhood and healthier futures for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).
Event Highlights
- Strong turnout and full endorsement from Ntoroko’s political and technical leadership, including the CAO, LC-V Chairperson, Secretary for Health, DHO, and Biostatistician.
- Inter-faith religious leaders (Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Born-Avenir) and cultural leaders pledged unified support.
- Kanara Sub-county & Town Council leaders, health facility in-charges, midwives, VHTs/CHEWs, youth representatives, adolescent mothers, and climate-resilience partners actively participated.
- Established baseline status of the District Costed Investment Framework for RMNCAH (2022–2026) and Teenage Pregnancy Reduction Strategy.
- Formed a multi-sectoral Project Steering Committee with a quarterly review schedule.
- Prioritized actions integrated into the 2025/26 District Health Plan.
Key Focus Areas of Uzazi Salama Project
- Scale proven inter-faith-led advocacy to improve demand, access, and quality of adolescent reproductive and maternal health services.
- Integrate digital youth engagement through TRAC FM for real-time data and feedback.
- Promote economic empowerment and climate-resilient health planning for AGYW.
- Address teenage pregnancy, early marriage, sexual violence, and socio-cultural barriers worsened by floods, displacement, and cross-border mobility.
Background & Impact
Building on the success of 3FHi’s Thrive I & II Projects (2020–2022) that achieved a 23.7% increase in WCAH budget, 22% reduction in neonatal mortality, and 181% rise in contraceptive prevalence in Ntoroko, Uzazi Salama takes the next bold step toward zero preventable maternal and adolescent health challenges.
